The BIGGEST and the BEST is yet to come! The
2005 Great Ontario Salmon Derby will boast over $4,000,000 in potential prizes
which will, once again, include a GRAND PRIZE in each of the seven weeks. Mark
these dates in your calendar July 9 August 27, 2005. Tickets will be on
sale in February.
The new format, "7 Derbys in One" boasting a
$1,500,000 potential prize package proved very successful and had an
overwhelming reception. Without question we will continue with this format but
make it bigger and richer for the 2005 Event.

Roy Aldous won the draw from the 7 Grand Prize winners to
participate in the Hi-Five Mystery Match Card contest having a potential win of
$1,000,000, or $100,000 or $10,000 or a further $8,000 in additional prizes.
After picking 10 cards out of the 40 available, Roy matched 5 cards worth
$10,000 in cash. Roy was one happy fellow! By coincidence Roy happened to catch
the heaviest Chinook Salmon overall weighing in at 38 pounds.
The GRAND DRAW prize, a 2-year lease on a TOYOTA 4RUNNER was won
by Matt Gerber of Kitchener Ontario.
Andy Todd, Wes Scott, Paula Gibson, Ryan Frawley, John Dolstra,
Charles Paddle and Dave Sullivan each took home $1000 cash as the MOLSON
CANADIAN ANGLER OF THE WEEK.
The Molson Canadian Championship Fish-Off did not take place due
to bad weather. By mutual agreement we drew four winners who each got $500 cash
from the 62 participants. All the participants also will receive a free Derby
ticket for the 2005 event and two free passes to the 2005 Toronto
Sportsmens Show.
John Tylak, Brantford Ontario was the winner of the early bird
draw, a 3hp side shift MERCURY outboard motor.
It was a most exciting event with an estimated 22,000 people
participating from across our country and the USA. Charter Boats did well with
the new concept of a major prize for the heaviest Chinook Salmon each week.
We thank the Ontario Ministry of Tourism for making the MILLION
DOLLAR DERBY possible. The Great Ontario Salmon Derby is, without question, the
greatest fishing event of the year.
The TORONTO SPORTSMENS SHOW produces the event in
conjunction with media partner, the TORONTO SUN, who has done a great job in
communicating the results to you on a daily basis. Many thanks to RENO and
ANGELO VIOLA of the FISHIN CANADA SHOW and the FAN 590 for providing the
